Trash and Recycling

THINK GREEN & ORANGE!
We encourage residents to recycle and offer the recycle bins
at City Hall and the Community Center for paper and plastics.
Need a good alternative to an ongoing rubbish hauling contract? Waste Management service will pick up the City Hall-issued “orange” bags in lieu of the large garbage receptacles. The 30-gallon orange bags are available at City Hall for the price of $13 for 5 bags. With this method, you pay for rubbish collection by the bag instead of by the month.
For any questions about rubbish collection, orange rubbish bags,
or recycling, call Janeen Mullin at
City Hall at 440-946-1234.
|
| Trash Collection is arranged by individual contract with property owner. |

City of Willoughby Hills Recycling Bins are now located on the west side of the Service Garage, just east of the tennis courts. There’s a wider turn-around, the wall blocks trash from blowing into neighboring yards and trucks have easier access without blocking traffic. The wall also acts as a wind-breaker during frigid winter months.
Recycling Makes Sense
Bring your recyclable items to City Hall. Follow the yellow Recycle signs to the back of the parking lot and turn left at the Service Garage. The recycle bins are located at the west wall behind the Service Garage. The following items will be accepted:
- Clean, dry newspapers and newspaper inserts
- Mixed paper: junk mail, corrugated cardboard, phone books, cereal and shoe boxes
- Empty metal cans, caps, lids, bands and foil
- Paper and plastic grocery bags
- Unbroken glass containers
- Plastic (stamped #1 or #2 on the bottom)
- Scrap aluminum such as lawn chairs, window frames and pots
- Shredded paper (Note: shredded paper must be contained in clear plastic bags only. Translucent or opaque plastic bags not acceptable).
|
| We cannot accept garbage, tires, hazardous waste, motor oil, furniture, computers, etc. | |

Save money on trash disposal!
If you have a limited amount of trash each week, here’s the perfect opportunity to save a bundle when you bundle your trash. The City of Willoughby Hills has large plastic orange trash bags by-the-roll for sale at the front desk. A roll of 5 bags costs just $13.00. When you use these special orange bags to dispose of your trash, Waste Management will pick them up from your yard, at the street, for no additional cost. No contract is necessary. A roll of orange trash bags makes a great gift, too. | |
