The Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Architectural Board of Review, are actually two separate bodies that share the same seven members. Meetings of both bodies are typically held in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 7:00pm on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Issues brought to the Commission typically originate through the City Building Department.
Among other duties, the Planning and Zoning Commission addresses the relocation of property lines, proposed subdivisions and major projects, proposed changes in land usage, and zoning matters. A detailed explanation of the purpose and duties of the Commission can be found in Charter Section 5.1.
The Architectural Board of Review examines and comments on proposed buildings to ensure the communitys standards are maintained. A more detailed explanation of the purpose and duties of the Board can be found in Charter Section 5.2.

Master Plan Review
The City maintains a Master Plan that must be updated periodically. During 2009 and 2010, the Planning Commission conducted meetings for this purpose and has developed a draft of the plan that will be considered for adoption by City Council in the future.
